Announcing the 2009 Potomac Native American Flute Festival
Event Description: The sixth Potomac Native American Flute Festival will be held the weekend of March 27-29, 2009 at the Richard Montgomery High School in Rockville, MD. Confirmed performers include Scott August and Autumn’s Child featuring Mark Holland on Friday night; and Mark “Thunderwalker” Camden and The Jeff Ball Band on Saturday night. There will also be a 90 minute Saturday afternoon concert featuring 3 artists: Jan Seiden, Jonny Lipford, and the duo of David Landis and Diana Sunday. Workshops will be held throughout the event, which is scheduled to run from 4:00PM Friday, March 27 to 2:00PM Sunday, March 29.
From all four directions, Winds of Change are blowing through communities around the world—environmental, spiritual, cultural, financial, personal. Native American Flutes are especially suited to giving voice to the feelings that accompany such change. Native American Flute players provide those voices to sooth and mend, honor and heal, and awaken and inspire. The 2009 Potomac Native American Flute Festival—itself in a new month, at a new venue, and featuring a new format and some performers in their first East Coast appearances—celebrates the unique ability of these instruments and the human beings who play them to make Winds of Change a meaningful force for good.
The entire Festival experience, including all workshops and concert performances, is only $100 by March 8, 2009, and $125 after March 8, 2009.
Individual workshop tickets and One-Day Passes will be sold the day of the event only - subject to availability.

Other items will be donated to the raffle from our performers and non-flute vendors. Raffles will take place during workshops and during concerts. Winners do not need to be present to win. There is no limit to the number of items the same participant can win.
New This Year
• Flute Tasting --
The sound of a flute is what draws us to it. Here's an interesting way for you to find your next flute—by sound only and sight unseen! Hidden from view, a series of flutes in the same key in the three ranges will be played. You'll mark your experience of each flute's sound on a sheet provided by the Festival. Makers of the flutes won't be announced until the Tasting is finished. Then off you go to find that flute that touched your heart … um, ear.
• Performer/Flute Player Lessons --
You may book in advance a 30-minute private lesson with your favorite performer depending on their availability. Lessons will be held at the Festival location in private rehearsal rooms. You must book and pay for these sessions in advance.
• New for Vendors:
Flute Maker Competition --
Flutes provided to the raffle will be judged according to the criteria below. Cash awards will be made to the three top place winners who are announced at lunch and listed at the Registration table on Saturday, March 28, 2009.
